5th place in points at the Summer Shootout Semi-Pros
Coming into the last two races it looked like Amber had 3 place stitched up and a very good chance at 2nd with a possibility at 1st in the Charlotte Summer Shootout.
Amber qualified 4th for race nine and after the invert started the race on pole. Amber jumped out to the lead on lap one but a wreck in the back of the field brought out the caution on lap 2. On the restart Amber was pushed into the outside line as they came to the green. One the second restart the same thing happened again. Amber was sent to the rear. (they apparently didn’t know she was being pushed) on the 3rd restart Amber fire and rocketed past the first car in front of her in turn one and ran down the next car in the back stretch. She looked to be on her way to the front again….but the car she caught had other ideas. As Amber drove down into turn 3 behind him him simply locked up the brakes and afforded Amber no place to go but into his rear end. This busted an oil line on her car and put her out of the race in 25th position. The other car was parked for the remainder of the race for his actions. Not the finish we were hoping for, but there was still race 10 to go and the car wasn’t damaged too badly.
In Race 10 Amber qualified 4th and with the invert started on outside pole. Amber quickly got down into 2nd place and chased the leader for the first two laps. On the third lap the leader started leaking oil and smoking really bad. This made it very hard for Amber to see her marks and also made it hard for her to breath. after 2 or 3 laps her tires got soaked with oil and she started sliding and he pulled away. This also allowed the cars behind her to catch her and she dropped back to 7th place on spot at a time. While dealing with the smoke and the oil soaked tires Amber showed great car control and drove as hard as she could, safely.
While running against some of the top names in legends racing, Amber 6 top fives in the 10 race series. She also managed to do so having only to replace 2 bumpers, an oil line connector, a steering arm, and a fuse to her electrical system. That is almost amazing as the Summer Shootout is considered one of the roughest series that you can race a legend car in. Amber also qualified to run all ten races, Something that several other drivers failed to do.
With the wreck in race 9 and the oil issues in race 10, Amber dropped back to 5th place in the points. Although we were hoping for a better place in the points, Amber was glad to podium in her first ever Charlotte Summer Shootout series.
Amber is also in the top 15 in the National Points Race.
